How to choose your wedding photographer

You’ve locked in the venue and your wedding plans are beginning to take shape, but have you considered who will be there capturing your dream day?

A photographer is one of the most important components of the day. They capture the moments that you will cherish forever, so, what do you look for when choosing your photographer?

At L’eto, we are passionate about ensuring brides are the most incredibly beautiful, yet natural and authentic versions of themselves on their wedding day. Our gowns are designed to inspire a bride to embrace her true essence, and our photographer philosophy is the same.

Wedding photography should be kept clean, minimal, authentic and true to you and your fiancé. We encourage our brides to steer away from selecting a photographer who over-edits, over-styles and over-stages the photography. This type of imagery will date quickly and is not a true reflection of the day, so when you look back years later you won’t be able to feel the true emotion associated with the day, but rather be left with just an image.

Photos are meant to be cherished and looked back on, which is why we are so passionate about working with photographers whose philosophy is to truly witness the day and produce the finest quality imagery that encapsulates true love and emotion, without over-editing and over-styling.

We recommend making your selection based on three things: Quality, Experience and Chemistry.

Quality: A quality photographer will steer away from over-editing your images and altering the colour of your skin-tone amongst other things. Instead, they will stick to clean lines, minimal editing, soft neutral tones and truely capture the emotion of the day.

Experience: A photographer can be a large financial commitment, so you want to ensure they are qualified and experienced in wedding photography. Hint: do your research! (Read: IG stalking!).

Chemistry: To include a potential stranger in such an intimate day can sometimes be confronting To ensure the photos turn out as magical as possible it’s good idea to meet up for a coffee or drink before confirming to ensure the chemistry between you and the photographer is just right.

Some of the photographer’s that L’eto recommends are renowned for all of the above and more.

Matt Godkin Weddings, Blaise Bell, Erin and Tara and Amelia Fullarton are all incredible photographers who will capture the magic of your day perfectly.

We can’t wait to see your beautiful wedding pictures.
